Messy or Masterful??

Enjoying a very relaxing weekend with the hubs and the bubs! Ran some errands yesterday and toted Amelia to the mall, target, etc.. It was great having Matt with me, less stressful to shop and get things accomplished. He was on baby patrol while I ran around for this or that.

Today has been exceedingly lazy - but I've been doing lots of online "research". I'm reconsidering cloth diapering and am sifting through the plethora of information out there. Amelia has had diaper rash several times, despite my careful changing of her disposables. I know this is "normal" but I'm wondering if cloth would help against the irritation. Plus, diapers rotting in a landfill is not a pleasant future either for Mother Earth.

I know what you're thinking. I've morphed into a tree-hugging-granola-eating-hippie-Mommy. Do not be fooled! My REAL incentive for cloth diapering is the cost. Diapers are so dang expensive it hurts every time we buy a box! We have a membership to BJ's and Matt just re-stocked our size 2 diapers and wipes. The diapers were $30+ and when I started using them, I realized I was not a fan. Nothing is contained in these things, and Matt and I have both been blasted in the past couple of days. Good visual for ya? I have tried the generic diapers too to cut down on cost, but the cheap sticky tabs dig and cut the skin on her belly. I can't be having that!

So - I will post what I've found in my brief research. I'm thinking of ordering a starter pack from a local and online diaper store. I've heard good things about them and am excited to try some!

The front runner as of right now is the Fuzzi Bunz diaper:

It appears to be a slight investment in the beginning, but I think the payout in the end will be substantial. Also, we can use them with baby #2!

P.S. - I still love granola!
