Winding Down...

I'm at the point in the school year where my 6th graders start acting like 7th graders.  Their hormones are buzzing, and they are no longer my sweet babies.  Lucky for them, next week is the last week of school! *dance of joy* Wednesday and Thursday are "half" days and I have Friday off.  We are just finishing reading, Tuck Everlasting.  I think some of the deeper metaphors are lost on a majority of my students, but hopefully next year will be more meaningful.  It is a sharp contrast from what we've read previously, and a good deal of them are mentally checked out.  I'm excited to watch the Disney movie, I've never seen it all the way through.  That's right, no judgement.  I am showing a movie the last few days, and I'm proud of it.

Saturday is the CHKD Run/Walk for the kids in Norfolk.  Andrea and I are bracing ourselves for a grueling 2-mile walk, and Ed and Matt are running the 8k.  We are supporting Team Rehab, one of the larger CHKD teams this year.  I'm excited, last year was a fun morning.  Hopefully, we will not swelter too badly.

Counting down the days, and crossing our fingers that our trip goes off without a hitch!  I'm sitting here with my new neck pillow, which I have been told is a life saver on long plane rides.  Matt disagrees, but we'll see who shows up in London with a stiff neck. ;)

We are finishing up our itinerary, which I will probably share this week.  I'm hoping to blog while we are in London, but I'm a little intimidated by French keyboards.

I'm also looking forward to eating my weight in bread, cheese, tomatoes, and wine.  YUM!
