This trip to Europe is no cheap weekend away, and we need to make a few sacrifices if we want to enjoy ourselves over there. But, after years of sacrificing, I'm really struggling with my patience. Matt graduates in just a few weeks, and I know we will be sitting very differently next year. I'm extremely proud of him, and my mantra is : Almost Done!
My mood was much improved after some much needed Vitamin D and a stroll through the zoo. The family of giraffes was very social, as were many of the animals. It looks like they were missing the sun too. We were surrounded by strollers today, and a slew of kids off on their Spring Break. I ran into a couple of students today, and was greeted with hugs and "Mrs Ammons! Look Mom, I found Mrs. Ammons!" This used to be an annoyance, but lately I've been very pleased when I run into kids out and about. After a few years of teaching under my belt, my attitudes and concerns have really shifted. If this had been two years ago, I would have been tempted to jump into the elephant pit. But, now, I hug them back and make polite small talk with their parents. I know that on Monday morning I will get a play by play of their adventures at the zoo. And I know I'll be just as excited talking about the giraffes.
